GALILEO

A NAME THAT SPEAKS OF EXCEPTIONALISM

Built for World Cruising, GALILEO Will Conquer Your Heart and Mind.

The 55.7-meter superyacht, named after the eminent scientist, philosopher and experimentalist Galileo Galilei, has been designed to go beyond the ordinary, calling for new discoveries. White and black tones are enough to decorate a ship with straight, solemn lines, appropriate to challenge the extreme temperatures of the season.

Built in 2011 in a high-strength steel displacement hull with aluminum superdeck structures by the Picchiotti, part of the Perini Navi Group, to all MCA and Lloyd's Register standards, with an impressive range of 9,000 nautical miles, record of 2.5 circumnavigations and fully refitted in 2023, GALILEO is the ultimate vessel to embark on an off-the-beaten-path charter journey.

Having long remained a secret private project, on which no third parties were allowed, you have a unique opportunity not only to unveil the mystery of one of the main projects of the superyacht industry in person, but also to enjoy all hers facilities in one of the best corners of the Earth - the magical waters of Southeast Asia.

YACHT CONCEPT

The owner of the future GALILEO, an experienced yachtsman who comes from a sailing yacht asked ' Philippe Briand, the world-renowned designer and architect of the largest sailing superyacht projects to create - surprise surprise - a Motor Yacht with a unique DNA of quality, innovation and performance. A yacht that can do it all and above all fulfill the client's dream of navigating the Northwest Passage*.

Philippe Briand & Vitruvius designed the 55m ice reinforced steel hull (BOS® or Briand Optimized Stretched Hull) to deliver uncompromised performance. He utilized maximum waterline length, efficient underwater hull shape and purposeful styling to create an environment that is as comfortable to be aboard crossing the roaring 40s as she is when moored.

- is the sea lane between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through the Arctic Ocean, along the northern coast of North America via waterways through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

She has succeeded beyond any doubt. GALILEO has 2.5 round-the-world voyages, scientific expeditions in northern latitudes and treasure hunts in the most exotic corners of the world.

NOTABLE EXPLORER'S FEATURES

GALILEO's exploring capabilities are truly amazing.

  • Crafted to ABS Ice Class IB and falls in line with AWPPA requisites (Arctic Waters Pollution Prevention Act), GALILEO while not an icebreaker, can cruise in the presence of drifting ice pack.
  • Built for maximum efficiency and potential for exploration, GALILEO, on top of her structural robustness and powerful propulsion systems for navigation through ice, has the necessary running systems, design characteristics and accessories to obtain Winterization, a denomination that distinguishes vessels that can navigate safely and for long periods of time in ice and at very low temperatures.
  • Fitted with an enormous satellite dome for navigating beyond 70-degree latitudes.
  • Equipped with the latest naval technology that allows you to provide internal heat to keep the machinery in optimal conditions within any environment
  • Has a 9,000nm range and huge produce storage capacity which enabled her to make the 28-day non-stop passage from New Zealand to Panama during her first circumnavigation.
  • She has a telescopic retractable ice detection system that transmits through a 3D monitor in the pilothouse. This system can detect submerged and semi-submerged obstacles along the vessel’s path at distances over 1km.
  • In warmer latitudes, she caters for serious diving and and is equipped with sonar for wreck hunting.
  • Sustainability takes center stage with the use of responsibly sourced products and a hybrid propulsion system.
  • And in conclusion, let's add her speed characteristics:cruising speed of 12 nautical knots and maximum speed of 16 knots, almost instantaneous and silent speed gain, which you can catch only by looking out of the portholes. And her fuel consumption is extremely low for her size!

EXTERIOR

GALILEO also owes her unique exterior design to Philippe Briand, a visionary in yacht architecture, and certainly to the owner's vision. The layout chosen by the owner below deck is similar to the hull which shows several features imported from sailing yachts, starting with the cockpit – which is well protected by the superstructure overhead and can be completely closed off in harsh latitudes. However with an architecture free of sails, GALILEO provide uncluttered havens for relaxation and entertainment.

Divided al fresco dining areas at the entrance to the main salon, a huge space (sized to accommodate a helicopter) with couches for socializing, sunbathing or partying aft on the main deck, a large dining room for 10 people a tier above are just some of the attractions you'll be able to enjoy during your stay aboard.

And we haven't talked about the foredeck which is ideal for yoga or sunbathing, lateral wings on either side of the bridge to enhance visibility in restricted waters, the hydraulic hinged side gangway for receiving guests or the hydraulic hinged starboard balcony platform for water treatments... And to top it all off, there's even a rope swing on the main deck.

INTERIOR

GALILEO interior spaces duly continue that slender symmetry and aesthetic of Philippe Briand's naval architecture and exteriors.

The interior by a highly acclaimed master of design with a modern take on luxury, Umberto Fossati, creates both a sense of understated elegance and surprising brevity. Involved in GALILEO project directly by the owner himself, Fossatti calls it one of the highlights of his career, as it was not following fashion in its realization. The maestro was asked to develop a ‘gentleman’s yacht’ interior with few frills but a lot of substance, to be both aesthetically and functionally comfortable during his plan to cross the world by sea. Indeed, the traditional open-plan interior, mahogany panels with a semi-matte finish throughout, large glazed areas that are ever present in each zone to offer constant contact with the surrounding elements, portholes and slatted ceiling give the impression of an expensive gentlemen's club or a sailing yacht of monarchs.

"The foundation of the project was based on the past experiences of the sea which clients had enjoyed before and that we wanted to bring on board. It was less a design project, but more like a coordinated effort, taking into account his itinerary, from which the interior design styling began".

INTERIOR'S REFIT

Refitted In 2023 GALILEO interior got a renewed and modern light image, retaining the core of Fossati's design. The furniture and exterior paraphernalia have undergone the biggest changes: the English primness has been replaced by modern trends in color, materials and presentation. The new furnishings, surrounded by Fossati's signature use of gradient scales in matte and semi-matte finishes, set a special rhythm for the interior space - retaining the image of a gentleman in a tuxedo, but with his bowtie untied.

The main salon, neutral and airy is divided into 2 areas: a furnished area for socializing and enjoying the views and an elegant dining room for formal meals for 10s with a new table and chairs in light colors and a giant, full-wall screen - an alternative to artwork. As for the aft upper deck lounge - perhaps one of the most ideal lounge spaces the charter industry has known.

GUEST ACCOMMODATION

AALILEO interior layout sleeps up to 10 guests in 5 noble cabins.

The full-width deck spacious and completely private master suite, with its own office, walk-in wardrobe and his-and-her bathroom areas (with a freestanding tub by the porthole) is located on the Main Deck and offers the best view aboard.

Lower deck is entirely dedicated to guests: there are 4 guest cabins meticulously designed by Maestro Umberto Fossati and refitted from 2023: 2 double VIP suites and 2 twin cabins.

Each stateroom, bespoke designed in the "modern classic" style with a sophisticated combination of expensive wood, natural stone, textures and author's decorative elements together with a balanced chocolate color palette, is an undeniable design art masterpiece
