HANSE EXPLORER

THE TRUE EXPLORER AT ONE WITH NATURE

At the end of 2021, you have a unique opportunity to discover one of the most iconic expedition yachts in the world - HANSE EXPLORER - in a new quality. Thanks to the change of ownership and a grand renovation, the yacht has acquired new goals and a new outlook that will not leave anyone indifferent who steps aboard her.

HANSE EXPLORER is one of few yachts in the world today that can be considered a true ‘Expedition Yacht’. Purpose built in 2006 with German precision, her’s steel hull has the highest commercial Ice Class rating (Finnish Ice Class A1 / Germanischer Lloyd Ice Class E3) to handle the most challenging waters and the powerful engine allows her to break through dense sea ice with ease.

Expeditions in recent years have taken HANSE EXPLORER south of the Antarctic Circle, north of 82 degrees north latitude (the High Arctic) and too many other exotic destinations in between. With state-of-the-art navigation equipment, a 9,000nm cruising range, the capacity to produce 20 tons of fresh water onboard every day and an extraordinary level of seaworthiness, HANSE EXPLORER is entirely self-sufficient for long range exploration.

But that's the way it was until today. Meet the renewed HANSE EXPLORER of the truly new, responsible millennium!

This big announcement is not a publicity stunt, it's based on a new philosophy of unity between the yacht and nature, introduced by the HANSE EXPLORER current owners. Thanks to the extensive refit that practically stripped the yacht to its bones and lasted two years the experienced explorer has acquired new qualitative characteristics.

INTERIOR

Now it is elegant, modern and concise. HANSE EXPLORER interior has undergone a complete redesign and renovation to achieve the level of comfort the owner intended. The light and airy saloon space that greets guests on entry offers an immediate sense of serenity as the yacht prepares to leave land behind and cruise into the North Sea.

Traditional dark panelling and leather furnishings have been swapped for light woods and a neutral palette of creams, clean whites and chromed silvers, with just a touch of nautical navy blue. The yacht has completely eliminated the feeling of enclosed space by installing glass-paned sliding doors to create a seamless transition from the saloon to the outside decks. The owner describes this feature as “the greatest victory in this process” because there is nothing more depressing in a northern expedition than the feeling of a crushing and dark space. A similar entryway has been outfitted in the master stateroom to offer primary charter guests private deck access. Expanses of glass flood spaces with sunshine and allow for optimal viewing of wildlife during expeditions.

According to one of the owners the elegant simplicity and neutrality of the design is key to optimising the experiences offered on board Hanse Explorer. Because the main goal was to maximise and create the deepest connection with the outside world where the interior doesn’t compete with the outside.

EXTERIOR

Deck spaces have also been completely transformed to further prioritise time in the great outdoors. The top deck – previously off-limits – has now had the radar raised by three metres to create an outdoor oasis during expeditions.

The refit included the installation of a hot tub which will make for an atmospheric experience in colder climes and a spectacular view in the South Pacific, a cocktail area with Bose sound systems and cabana-style Bali beds for sleeping under the stars in warmer destinations. An expansive aft deck is used for frequent al fresco dining.

GUEST CAPACITY

The HANSE EXPLORER's thoughtful and nautical interior layout accommodates up to 12 intrepid guests in 7 modern, comfortable and bright cabins that will give you complete relaxation between glacier encounters, including a master stateroom and 6 double cabins with convertible double beds into 2 single.

CREW

A professional crew of 14 is responsible for the perfect & luxury stay of guests on board and understands the unique needs of expedition clients, whether multi-generational families or a romantic escape for a couple. The new crew from other expedition yachts on the market, is distinguished by the fact that they are all certified guides and employees of a expedition travel company, which was formative in opening up some of the most remote destinations to adventurous travellers and was an early pioneer of eco-tourism.

That's why if you wanna go to expedition, you need this guys.

HANSE EXPLORER MODERN PHILOSOPHY

This is what formed the basis of understanding the renewed vessel. The HANSE EXPLORER expedition gives guests a meaningful experience, which can turn their perspective on nature, our Blue planet and will encourage environmental awareness. The yacht's owner, who is also the CEO of pioneering travel company, firmly believes that certain kinds of tourism are in fact the key to the protection of the environment: "The world needs advocates for the environment and the best way to do that is to expose people to it.”

PERFOMANCE: ADDITION

Nimble and stout, Hanse Explorer has repeatedly proven herself for those seeking an immersive, intimate adventure in the planet’s most remote regions. Now it's even more nimble, more comfortable, and more protected from the elements because of the ultra-modern retractable SKF zero-speed fin stabilisers that reduce rolling while still allowing the explorer to continue breaking the ice.

Built for both polar and tropical waters, she carries two Mark-IV Zodiacs for landing on remote Pacific beaches or pushing through Antarctic brash ice, and newly installed (2020) retractable stabilizers keep her steady at sea.

WATER ACTIVITIES

Guided by the philosophy of eco-tourism and environment the owners are adamant about additional equipment on board, that's why you won't find any Jet Skis in the toybox, eco-friendly single and double kayaks only.

But now Hanse is equipped with everything needed for diving - her recent refits have already primed her with a renovated “mudroom” to prepare for expeditions on her two new Zodiacs, and from January 2022 she’ll offer a refurbished dive shop area with upgraded gear for 14 divers, including a BAUER Nitrox membrane compressor.

HANSE EXPLORER LOCATION IN 2022

Following her refit, Hanse Explorer will head to the Antarctic and then on to the south pacific islands of French Polynesia. The next step will be to prepare the ship for unparalleled activities in the south pacific. Which HANSE expedition will you choose?
